A Season to Rest

Image
Today's entry is very simple. It is summer in one part of the world and that invites us to live in greater simplicity. In another part of the world, it is going into winter, and that invites introspection and one to slow down as well. Either way, the season invites rest. Are you too busy? Feeling overwhelmed? Then rest! Take time to: REST. REFLECT. AND REPLENISH. That is what I am doing right now.  Last night I gave myself permission to let go of tasks and goals I had set out for the year. It felt instantly freeing. Instead, I thought to myself - "Let's just see where things go. Let me be open to whatever presents itself." So yes! Just: REST. REFLECT. AND REPLENISH. If you don't take time to rest, you can't reflect. And if you don't have time to reflect, you won't be able to figure out what you need to replenish - and make your life better, more peaceful, and joyous.  It's really that simple. Try it! Becoming My Best Self

Image
I have not made an entry in this blog since January. Since then, I have been knee deep in spiritual practices - trying on new ones - revisiting old ones I may have hastily or inadvertently discarded. As a result, in this very deep and very long winter, it has fed my soul, while I quietly hibernated, waiting for the first signs of spring... These are turbulent times. All one has to do is listen to the news or read the newspaper, which I avidly did most of my life. Now, I find myself needing to step away from the constant maddening assault on my senses in order to nurture my soul and come home to my True Self. Many mornings, after meditation, I walk down to a pond where I sit on a bench, and often meditate some more. But often, I just watch the geese and ducks do their own thing, under a canopy of tree limbs and evergreens, listening to the cacophony of an impromptu chorus of birds happily chirping overhead. One day last week, I noticed all the usu...

Just for Today, on a Snowy Day

Just for today, on this snowy day,  I am reminded of love, of beauty,  Of all that is meaningful, And holds my heart captive... Just for today, on the biggest snowfall Of the last few years, I am reminded of what is important, And what is not... Just for today, my heart bids me slow down, And invites me into its sacred and hidden abode, To go there and roam aimlessly... Just for today, I will put aside anxious thoughts, Avoiding all discussions or words, Pulling my center o ut of its gravitational orbit,  That is Divine in both nature and origin... Today, and every day,  Let me be all I must be... Today, and every day, Let me love unconditionally... Today, and every day, Let me do my work, And do it well... Today, and every day, May I not forget the true purpose of life - Which is to embody And express love, In every way imaginable... Just for today, I am grateful. Today, I am filled with love. Today, I see the beauty that i...
